Abstract

The dentigerous cyst is an odontogenic cyst usually associated to the crown of a retained tooth. Its most frequent locations are the lower third molar and the upper canine area. The clinical case of a 12-year-old female patient who came to Maxillofacial Surgery consultation, referred from basic care due to volume increase on the right side of the face, was presented. The clinical examination revealed increased volume and hardness in right masseteric area, clinical absence of 47 with marked distention of both vestibular and lingual tables in that area, hard-stone consistency, for which a panoramic X-ray was indicated. A radiolucent image was observed; it covered the mandibular angle and branch associated with retained 47 and 48, with apical displacement of both teeth and surrounded by a fine sclera line that represents the bone reaction, compatible with a dentigerous cyst.
