Abstract

The abdominal trunk is located between the inferior aspect of the breasts and the upper pelvis, and is of particular interest to plastic surgeons, as the standing position is of paramount importance in defining the individual's overall contour.

Abdominoplasty, abdominal dermolipectomy, tummy tuck, or abdominal plastic surgery is a complex surgical procedure for reconstructing the abdominal wall. It involves the removal of excess skin and fat, as well as tightening the muscles of the abdominal wall, with the ultimate goal of reshaping the abdomen, waist, and the shape of the trunk.

This surgery is typically performed on patients with a relatively good figure who have experienced weight gain followed by subsequent loss, or on women who have had multiple pregnancies, after which the abdominal skin and muscles have become lax and failed to regain their original tone.
