The Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) is a low-barrier interoperability framework for repositories. Data providers expose structured metadata via OAI-PMH, while service providers issue OAI-PMH requests to harvest this metadata. OAI-PMH consists of six verbs/services invoked within HTTP.
