Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
It consists of a brief comment in agreement or disagreement with aspects included in published works, which may be related to concepts, methodologies, interpretations, results, or other topics addressed in the journal. These may be motivated by issues linked to the journal's mission for the development of public health or aimed at highlighting a relevant fact from a scientific, educational, or healthcare perspective. It may contain up to 2,000 words, be written by up to three authors, and be supported by bibliographic references.
ORIGINAL ARTICLES
It is the type of publication that reflects the results of conducted scientific research. Original articles must provide a significant contribution to the field of research. The maximum length is 4,500 words, starting from the introduction and excluding bibliographic references, which should not exceed 15 in total. Up to six authors are allowed.
BRIEF COMMUNICATION
They are original scientific articles, not very extensive, aimed at presenting a hypothesis or partial results of a research study. Authors must include bibliographic references, which should not exceed 15 citations. The work may have a length of 2,500 words and can be authored by up to four individuals.
MEDICAL EDUCATION
Articles related to the teaching and learning process at all its stages. They should be structured like an original article, with a maximum length of 4,500 words, up to 15 bibliographic references, and written by up to 6 authors.
REVIEW ARTICLES
It is based on already published materials, where the current state of research on a specific topic is compiled, analyzed, and synthesized. The author must indicate the purpose of the review, as well as the sources and methods used for reference searches. Authors should present the topic in a critical manner. There should be no more than three authors, and the article should not exceed 5,000 words and up to 30 bibliographic references. At least 75% of the references must be up-to-date, with 50% from the last three years.
CASE REPORTS
These are articles that describe one or more clinical cases of exceptional observation or some novel aspect of a previously known disease or syndrome. They should not exceed 2,500 words, have more than three authors, or include fewer than nine or more than thirteen bibliographic references.
HISTORICAL OUTLINE
Articles related to history, primarily focusing on the history of medicine and its branches, the lives and works of renowned public health professionals, healthcare institutions, and other related topics. These articles must adhere to the guidelines established for bibliographic reviews or original articles.
