Mission
This is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal with a continuous publication system, providing a space for scientific communication and ongoing education for students working in the Health Sciences field in the province.
Coverage
It publishes contributions with theoretical, methodological, practical, instrumental, or other value for enriching knowledge, practical activity, scientific progress, and technological advancement in the Health Sciences field. The journal prioritizes disseminating the most relevant experiences and results in healthcare, teaching, research, and management to showcase the province's achievements in this area.
Main Types of Content
HolCien welcomes the publication of the following types of articles: editorials, letters to the editor, original articles, brief communications, medical education, review articles, case reports, and historical outlines, as well as any contributions the Editorial Committee considers valuable for the development of Health Sciences.
The journal does not charge fees for processing or publishing articles, in compliance with the open-access information declaration.
Peer Review Process
HolCien adheres to the unified requirements for biomedical journals established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. All rigorous research undergoes an impartial, independent, and critical evaluation process that is intrinsic to the journal's operation. All articles are subject to a double-blind peer review system.
Upon receiving a submission, the assigned editor evaluates its thematic relevance, pertinence, and adherence to publication guidelines. Once approved for the editorial process, the editor assigns the manuscript to an academic peer (reviewer) under double-blind conditions, ensuring anonymity, with a 15-day timeframe for evaluation.
The review process serves two purposes: deciding on the article's publication and providing authors with recommendations for their presented research results. A committee of internal and external experts, with high prestige and experience in various specialties and topics, evaluates the validity and impact of the ideas and findings.
The review process follows guidelines based on the type of article, addressing quality criteria and the final decision. Reviewers can provide recommendations or comments about the content.
The Editor reviews the evaluation results and prepares a decision (conclusion) based on reviewers' opinions or assigns the work to another specialist if necessary. Authors receive a written decision, which may include approving the article with no modifications, approving it with minor adjustments, returning it for major revisions, or rejecting it for publication. Decisions are final, but rejected authors may submit their work to other publications.
Authors must respond to requests for minor or major revisions within 15 days. If accepted for publication, clarifications during the editing process must be addressed promptly. Non-compliance may result in article exclusion. Once evaluated, final editorial modifications may be applied to ensure quality.
Review processes uphold ethical standards, avoiding conflicts of interest. Reviewers must not use knowledge gained during the review for personal benefit before publication or disclose results publicly. Manuscripts under review cannot be reproduced or discussed without the journal director's permission.
HolCien commits to publishing accepted manuscripts within one year of submission and providing the first evaluation results within 90 days.
