Leucoplasia bucal, lesión potencialmente Maligna para el cáncer de cabeza y cuello

Resumen

Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica acerca de la leucoplasia bucal, como lesión potencialmente maligna para el cáncer de cabeza y cuello; se consultaron bases de datos como Scielo, Hinari y PubMed, se citaron 30 fuentes, entre libros, artículos científicos, revistas y trabajos publicados en periódicos. Con esta investigación se persiguió el objetivo de sintetizar información actualizada sobre el tema y se pudo constatar que esta lesión de la mucosa bucal posee un potencial de transformación maligna, por lo que se clasifica como una lesión precancerosa, que puede afectar tanto a hombres como mujeres y está determinada por diversos factores etiológicos, como el tabaco.
